One Whole Year of Liontooth
Here's what I've learnt

I can't believe that it's been a whole year since I launched Liontooth!
What a crazy year to start a business! I'm still here and still loving it; taking on new clients, new challenges and new learnings.
Looking back at the past year, the main things I've learnt and realised are this:
ðĨ I love working with people and building relationships.
ðŦ There's a huge community of freelancers and self-employed people who are backing and supporting each other. It's incredible.
ðĒ Problem solving is a huge driver for me.
ð Taking someone else's jumbled thoughts and intentions and helping them to make sense of it is really satisfying.
ðĢ My favourite part of my job is working out how to get my clients from A (their brand and messaging) to B (their target audience).
ð My real passion lies in seeing results.
This past year has allowed me to put into practice all of the theory that I learnt through completing my CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing; how to create and implement a marketing strategy, the importance of knowing your target audience, the value of understanding marketing channels, the wider implications of branding and so much more.
This year has allowed me to be proactive and reactive, meeting client needs quickly and efficiently, advising and guiding them and seeing the results they hoped for being achieved. This is what makes it all worthwhile.
The many driving forces for me to become self employed continue to propel me on my journey:
- Giving clients what they need
- Giving clear and concise advice and guidance
- Having the autonomy to make decisions quickly
- Providing great value
- Having the freedom to manage my own diary
- Having the time to spend with my family and look after myself
This year has had it's challenges but I'm so grateful to have had the freedom and flexibility over the past year to work around children at home during lockdowns, a husband working and not working, and making the most of extended holidays last year.
I'm so lucky to be supported by friends, family and new connections who have become relentless cheerleaders and of course my husband who took a deep breath and said 'yeah go for it'.
Honestly more than anything, I'm grateful to those clients who took a punt on an absolute newbie. I'm not sure you realise how much it means to a freelancer every time we get a new client. The 'happy dance' isn't a myth - it happens. Normally in the kitchen. On your own - who am I kidding?! As if I've had a single minute to myself this year?! ðĪŠ
I'm so excited to see what the next year brings.
Better times are coming.
